Theoretical Perspectives of TB

The Turner’s Bog study is primarily focused on how alien species may interact and affect the function of the wetland. Since invasive gorse and blackberry thrive in disturbed sites, the ecological process includes soil acidity, solar radiation, and aspect — along with anthropogenic influences such as urbanization and pollution.

The ideas that underpin this research project are how invasive gorse (Ulex europaeus) has colonized a patch on a south-facing slope yet is absent from anywhere else along the bog. Further, why blackberry present in each gradient of the bog. Pre-urbanization, this area was formed as a glacial depression called a kettle lake.
