Theoretical Perspectives – Mosquito Creek Park

Mosquito Creek Park study is focused on the population density of the Vinca Minor and what environmental factors may an affect on the number of flowers present. When considering the changes in population density of this species within Mosquito Creek Park, the ecological process includes elevation rates, sun exposure, and the potential effect that other species can have on the population density.

The ideas that underpin this research are how the population density of the Vinca Minor slowly decreases starting from the beginning of the trail to the point of higher elevation. Other species within this trail seem to be relatively stable in regard to population density throughout the trail, however the Vinca Minor does not follow this pattern. The scope of this study is to come to a conclusion as to why the population density pattern is not consistent throughout the trail and what factors could potentially lead to this.
