Theoretical Perspectives – McNeill Bay

My research is focused on understanding the influence of the sea wall and multiple drainage sites on barnacle abundance at McNeill Bay. The theoretical basis for my work is that sea walls have proven effects on marine diversity and pollution playing an obvious role in wildlife health and therefore it’s probably that they also play a role in barnacle abundance.

The ecological processes that my research touch on are abundance, barnacle distribution, and to an extent reproduction (although difficult to measure but related to abundance).

Some ideas that underpin my research are the influence and relationship between urbanization and marine health/abundance. Specifically, the role of sea walls and sewage drainage sites (pollution) on barnacle abundance. Do they both have an equal effect? Are they synergistic?

Some key words I would include in my research paper would be: sea wall, pollution, barnacle abundance, urbanization, intertidal zone.
