My project is based on theories of biodiversity within cities and how cities can bring back native fauna to the city. Urban environments cause areas to lose biodiversity because few animals and plants can survive under urban conditions. An important way to mitigate biodiversity loss in the city is to create urban green spaces. These spaces can be relatively wild areas within a city, therefore allowing some animals that cannot normally survive in the city to take up residence. These spaces then become reservoirs of biodiversity. I wanted to test how well different areas within an urban park fulfilled this purpose, and if different park features impacted the bird diversity of the park.
