The data collection activities to show promising results with regards to the hypothesis and prediction made previously. The weather on the day of the observation was sunny with minimal human activity present around the park,. In the data collection activities, three areas were distinguished categorically based on their water reduction level: low, medium, and high reduction. Within these three areas, five sub quadrants were placed to count the birds feeding on the ground, neglecting any areas where human induced feeding interactions may have occurred. The quadrants were 1 meter long by 2 meters wide, and were considered based on their position on the ground, or in the more shallow areas of the pond. The data provided a total of 5 replicates at the time of the data collection; however, more recent observations have shown the abundance of the Song Sparrow and Bewick’s Wren outside of the quadrants behind the wooden fence. Because the area behind the fence was also subject to intermittent stream reduction, I have decided to include an additional sampling quadrant to this unmaintained area and account for this distribution. In terms of any external biotic or abiotic factors, no other issues with these observations have been apparent and future observations will continue in this manner. Greater stream reduction is expected to occur moving through August and into September.
