Every Saturday afternoon between 4-5pm I went for a walk to the gradient area at the Golden View Trail. This lasted for 6 weekends to complete my 6 replicates. During this period, I would place a stick to mark each end of the sampling area. I noticed that some weekends the stick either disappeared or would be knocked down either due to foot traffic or wind. I would then have to refer to my previous photos to ensure accuracy.
I made two 50cm by 50cm quadrat for each gradient area. Each gradient was a total of 100 cm. One of the difficulties I faced was the problem of lining them up at the same areas every weekend. I was also going to conduct more replicates for this observation however I later found out certain residents near the area had complained about the fungi growth and had city services eliminate the mushrooms along the trail. Upon learning this, I decided to conclude my observation with what I already had.
An ancillary observation I’ve noticed was the amount of dog walking that was being done through the trail that could potentially have led to the decrease in the amount of fungi in the trail.
