During my sampling of, it took quite some time to find the same places I placed the quadrats in previous replicates. The trail was also a popular walking area so I had difficulty completing my sampling accurately due to foot traffic. Furthermore, I collected the data during the afternoon, which is a popular time for the trail. Transect 4 was also located past the fence which made it difficult to access. Fortunately the way the data was collected is sustainable and I am able to continue using this process.
I have also altered my experimental design by removing the observation of whether the mushroom grow in a cluster or individually to make my hypothesis more focused.
Part 2 of blog post 5 was posted in Ranjodh’s post 3:
“Hello Ranjodh, your observation regarding the ferns is very similar to my observation of fungi in the nearby garden trail!
An advice is to separate your prediction from your hypothesis. Also remember to list a response and explanatory variable as well as determine whether they are categorical or continuous. As a reminder, the response variable is the organism you are studying in this case the fern, and the explanatory variable would be the factors that you think causes the patterns.
I think your experiment will be very interesting and I look forward to reading more about it.”
