To conclude my field research I found the implementation of my design worked well. I was able to confirm my hypothesis that the introduction of bullfrogs negatively impacted the abundance of Vancouver island tree frogs in a pond near Victoria B.C. I did have difficulty finding results for how development affected the tree frogs’ habitat or if the bullfrog was introduced because of development. I found a possible pattern that describes; the closer the quadrant to the traveled road or the development site the less abundance of frogs and vis versa. The other pattern I observed is that when the bullfrog was observed it was found in the quadrant near the well-traveled road. This may indicate that the bullfrog does well in locations with development. My appreciation for the development of ecological theory changed as a result of participating in this ecological practice. I now regard ecological theory development with more respect. I recognize the various ways in which the ecosystems around me interact. I am now mindful of how much time is required for and devoted to this kind of research.
