Blog Post 8: Tables and Graphs

Organizing an area chart was somewhat challenging for me, in a technical sense. While I was summarizing the data, my main goal was to display the information as clearly as possible so that the correlation between different tide levels and number of White and Grey herons can be instantly tracked. While building the graph, I didn’t find anything unexpected, on the contrary, I found the chart much more appealing for understanding the correlation.

If I were to continue collecting the data and developing my graph, I would add correlation between presence of Grey Herons and weather conditions. For instance, only Grey herons have been spotted several times foraging during heavy rainfalls which usually cause an increase in turbidity level – it could potentially reduce the White herons’ chances to be successful in foraging, as they were absent during the same weather conditions.

Additionally, I would add information on moon cycles, as they are the major reason for both high and low tides to constantly change in height.
