The main basis of my study is how the abundance of species changes with the presence/absence of water and topographical features. My data collection done in module 3 consisted of 3 sampling locations strategically chosen. To collect data, I compared the percent abundance of plant species in each location. I didn’t come across any significant challenges aside from that because I chose to focus on 5 species in each location it was hard at first to estimate the abundance as a percent which resulted in recalculations in my sampling. The data I have collected has been consistent in answering my hypothesis, therefore, I will continue sampling in the same way.

  1. Hello Lily
how did you choose those particular 5 species? are they present in each area/stratification? that would make sense
I will be interested to see what size sampling plot is used!

  2. Hi Lily,
Interesting idea to study abundance according to the presence or absence of water and topography. Which plant species did you choose? Are these species that are already acclimatized to wet conditions or is this water pooling due to unforeseen circumstances (flooding due to a pipe burst for example)? Looking forward to seeing where the research takes you!

  3. hey!

I am curious if the topographical features are simply the distance or elevation from the river? What topographical features are you measuring.

    Thanks!
