Observations near Esquimalt Lagoon

The area I have chosen to observe is located near the Esquimalt Lagoon at the foot of a trail that cuts through a few residential areas. I would estimate the area is about the size of a football field. The area is full of straw-like grass, blackberry bushes, ornamental bushes and even apple trees. I would consider it a little nature reserve niche in an ever-growing suburban area. The geographic location is approximately 48.418717, -123.473296 and starts at the base of Anchorage road off Lagoon drive, in Colwood, Victoria, B.C.

I believe this area is considered private land that is likely going to be developed in the next couple years. Current time of year is the end of summer and beginning of spring, and the weather is cool but gradually getting sunnier with each day.

Three potential subjects for my research project could be:

How many species can be found frequenting the area and for what apparent reason?

What time of day does animal activity seem to peak in the area?

Is there a specific species or type of animal (such as birds, mammals) that dominates the location?

I am including pictures of the general landscape of the space. There are various bushes and sources of shelter for animals as well as different kinds of grasses and edible vegetation.
