When creating my tables and graphs, I noticed a surprising trend with my data that in total, the same amount of bird species were observed in closed canopy habitats and open canopy habitats. This could also be influenced by conducting bird diversity surveys in winter when more generalist species are present and these species can be seen in forested habitats and areas where anthropogenic disturbances have occurred.
Because of this finding, I did not think a bar graph was the most effective way to share my data. I decided to instead share 2 different options. A line graph which displayed the number of individuals counted each date a survey was completed. A variable that could contribute to these results is also temperature since it was winter and birds my be less active on colder dates. I also will use a table that shows what species were observed in open canopies, closed canopies or both to display the raw data I collected.
Sounds like you have a lot to talk about in your discussion! Sometimes unexpected results can be more interesting and give more to talk about.
