ongoing field observations

With my ongoing field observations, I decided to choose three distinct locations along the park and labelled them as: 1, 2 and 3.   I observed large number of squirrels in the park and hence the organism that I plan to study for my project is the population of squirrels . Upon observing the three distinct locations carefully, I concluded that location 2 and 3 supports greater population of both type of squirrels when compared to location 1. The potential hypothesis that I would like to investigate is that the habitat quality controls the squirrel population. My specific prediction would be that the location with greater habitat quality i.e., food resources, will have greater squirrel population. The potential response variable for this study would be squirrels, and the explanatory variable would be the number of nut-bearing trees/food resources. Both these variables are categorical variables.

  1. You have an interesting topic, I’m not sure what your three locations were based on and it isn’t clear how the number of fruit / nut bearing trees will be categorical though I’m sure that will all be clearer as you move along.
