SAMPLING STRATEGY

The sampling was done based on block and quadrant sampling. At two different elevations, the specific quadrants were chosen in which the lichens were chosen to be examined. In this kind of sampling the sites are selected, and the research takes place in that area.

In each study, a square served as the sample unit. Because the variable (meaning total lichen cover per summit and aspect) has a normal error distribution, we utilized a general mixed model to evaluate the total lichen cover. Heteroscedasticity was considered by adding a parameter. On the other hand, a generalized linear model with a Poisson distribution was used to analyze the species richness (mean species richness per summit and aspect). To compare average treatments for the two models, we utilized Fisher’s least significant difference (LSD).

Simple Random Sampling

An approach to ensure that all participants in a survey have an equal probability of participating is simple random sampling.

With simple random sampling, every member of a population has an equal chance of being chosen for a sample. A more manageable and condensed section of the population may be investigated and analyzed thanks to the sample. It’s a key method for gathering information and drawing conclusions about a population.

Simple random sampling is regarded as an impartial and fair way of selecting samples.  The simplest sample selection technique is this kind of sampling.

To ensure the same, there were steps that were followed while choosing the area and lichens. When they first create a list of the population’s members, they assign each one a unique number (for instance, if there are n members, they will be numbered from 1 to N).

Using random number generator software and random number tables, researchers from this demographic select random samples. Since there is no need for human intervention to generate samples, researchers choose software random number generators. Here, the lichen class was taken from 0 to 5 and the categories were divided into A, B and AB. The following ways were used to number and to select the lichens to get the outcome.
