Sources of Scientific Information

The source I found is called The Effects of Bird-feeding activities on the health of wild birds by Wilcoxen et al.  published in the Journal “Conservation Physiology” in 2015

Wilcoxen TE, Horn DJ, Hogan BM, Hubble CN, Huber SJ, Flamm J, Knott M, Lundstrom L, Salik F, Wassenhove SJ, Wrobel ER (2015) Effects of bird-feeding activities on the health of wild birds. Conserv Physiol 3(1): cov058; doi:10.1093/conphys/cov058.

I chose this peer-reviewed journal article as it was scholarly in nature, peer-reviewed and contained many references to other applicable works. The article went fairly in-depth to start to develop an understanding of the pros and cons of supplemental feeding of wild bird species. Specifically the correlation between feeder use and disease prevalence amongst bird species.

  1. Yes it is peer reviewed and while this may be obvious to you, you are missing some of the points from the tutorial in terms of identifying sources and how did you know it was peer reviewed if you weren’t familiar with the journal?
