Blog #6 Data Collection

June 03, 2023.

Weather: 17 degree C, Sunny and cloudy.

Lakelse Lake, Terrace, BC.

The data collection that I did depends on the hypothesis and prediction made in previous. For the data collection I choose three areas, which are based on the water level: low, moderate and high level. To collect my samples I use five quadrants. The quadrants were 1 meter long by 2 meters wide.

I choose the area where there are less human activities and also less disturbance by the other animals. The data provided a total of 5 replicates at the time of the data collection. There are some problems I saw during the collection of data: dead logs and various kinds of rocks. I saw many birds, trees and also fishes during the collection of my data.

  1. I am confused where the 5 replicates are? It would be good to have 5 replicates for each location along your gradient. It could be tough to make any interpretations of your data with only 5 replicates. Your writing is not that clear so I am not sure what your experimental design is.

I note that you have not completed your small assignment #2 yet. I highly recommend you submit this and get feedback before completing your field data otherwise you may have to adjust and redo it. Small assignment #2 should be completed in Module 5.
