Create a blog post describing your field data collection activities.
How many replicates did you sample?
Each of the 6 flowering plants being surveilled for bee visitation was observed 4 times over the course of a week for a total of 24 replicates
Have you had any problems implementing your sampling design?
Due to time constraints all plants were observed during the same time period by myself and my partner. I had to ask my partner for help after the first day as I suspected that I could miss bee visitations while observing/collecting data on other bees visiting the same/different plants simultaneously.
Have you noticed any ancillary patterns that make you reflect on your hypothesis?
The bumblebees observed during my observation periods are being categorized under “bee visits”. One thing I have noticed is that the bumblebees appear to be less selective than other bee species observed. Upon further research of my articles there has been suggestions that bumblebees are typically generalists, feeding on a wide variety of floral resources. Whereas other bee species may have more specialized feeding preferences that may arise from morphological and dietary differences.
Sounds like your sampling went well. Interesting note about bumble bees. I see your last post before this one is post 3, don’t forget posts 4-5.
