The area selected to observe in this field study is the backyard at 127 Regatta Rd. Winnipeg, Manitoba. Google coordinates 49.93883, -97.05229. The area is approximately 16.4m x 9.5m and is mostly grass with three different species of trees, a rhubarb plant and potted vegetables. The area is surrounded by a fence and the topography is flat. From the field observations taken here are three questions that come to mind;
- Is bark and discoloration on crab apple tree due to age, fungus or disease?
- What species of animals use the apples as a main food source?
- Grass in area close to spruce and cedar trees is yellow in colour, is this due to soil composition, access to light?
