- a) say what the source is (and/or link to it)
The source of ecological information I chose is an article that is titled: ‘The leaf-area shrinkage effect can bias paleoclimate and ecology research’. This article was published in the American Journal of Botany, in Volume 99, Issue 11, p. 1756-1763 on November 1st, 2012.
- b) classify it into one of the four types of information discussed in the tutorial
This article is an academic, peer-reviewed research paper.
- c) provide documentation to support your classification.
The paper is academic, because all of the authors are professionals in their field, with the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, at the University of Arizona, as one of the listed labs for the first three authors. There are also five other labs at varying universities/research locations listed for the numerous authors. There are also in-text citations throughout, with a full reference list at the end, in the ‘Literature Cited’ section. The authors also thank and name two people for their peer review (1st page), and the Journal itself says its also peer-reviewed. Experiments were conducted, and results recorded, making this paper research material, in addition to the ‘methods’ and ‘results’ sections that are present (according to tutorial).
