The change of the Euphorbia humifera

When I visited the Victoria Rose Garden again, I found that the flowers were planted in different areas. It was difficult for me to carry on with my previous plan.
My plan is to study the difference between flowers that are close to the water source and those that are far away. This led me to turn my attention to the Euphorbia humifera growing near the fence in the garden.
This plant clings to other plants or buildings nearby.
What I want to study is the influence of the height of the building on the growth of Euphorbia humifera.
There is a lot of Euphorbia humifera near the garden fence, and I decided to study whether there is any effect of climbing on this plant.
Near the fence, I found a Euphorbia humifera clinging to the iron fence. Found another in a crack in the garden’s more open pavement.
I’m going to collect data on them to study their growth rates and plant strength.
The response variable is the rate of plant growth of the euphorbia and I’ll describe it on a scale of 1-5.
The predictor was whether there were buildings nearby that could be attached.
My prediction is that it will do better when there are nearby creepers.
The second response variable I chose was the strength or hardness of the plant itself.

  1. Hi!
I think you have the beginnings of a good prediction as well as variables that should be easy to measure in a field setting, but I had some questions that I thought maybe could use your elaboration.

What exactly do you mean when you say the plant will do “better”? As in it will grow to greater heights and have a thicker stalk/stem?

I was also wondering how exactly are you defining plant growth using a 5-point scale. Will each of the five points represent a certain length or range of lengths of stem? Also what is a creeper?

I think if you state your prediction in terms of your response and predictor variables (i.e., the pieces and patterns), it will be a lot more clear to readers what exactly your prediction is. Right now I feel as though I am inferring that your prediction is that plants will grow more/grow stronger in the presence of a nearby building that they can attach to?? But, I’m not sure if that’s what it is because it was not explicitly stated.

Also, since it is a garden, you may need to verify that humans are not maintaining these climbing plants that you want to observe by trimming them, because that could be a confound in your study!

Good luck with your experiment! 🙂
