Data Collection

I have visited two sites in the creek and collected five flow rate measurements for each. The one problem I see myself having is keeping track of where I have sampled to ensure the sites are a meter away to keep independence. I may stick temporary markers in the creek where I have sampled already to make this less of a problem. I pick my sites by flipping a coin to decide to walk up or downstream and then pick a number between 5-20 to decide how many paces to move up or downstream. Looking at the data I collected initially and the data I collected this week my hypothesis seems to be accurate with chara algae growing in high flow rate areas of the creek and spirogyra algae also growing in low flow rate. One thing that is surprising is I can find chara algae in low-flow rate areas where I only expected Chara to be in high-flow areas.
