My field research was conducted in the backyard. It was interesting to design a field experiment and carry it out. Initially designing was challenging as I wanted to focus on something that would give some results while implementing. After looking at certain different areas, I decided to go for something that I have learned since grade 4. My research factors (water and sunlight) revolved around photosynthesis. There were certain changes that I made as my approach to things was wrong. The professor made recommendations about measuring my data to get the results, which helped me observe the area better. The implementation was not that difficult, but the representation of data was challenging. The weather played a crucial role and worked out in my favor as there was no rain or snow during my observations. This field research has changed the way I see the surroundings now, I could not believe that the backyard, I saw for so many years could be the area for an ecological project. I appreciate the ecological theories development. This research helped me gain new experience and learn about different ecological processes in a fun way by actually going out and observing by ourselves.
