in the beginning i had a bunch of ideas that i wanted to do and knew exactly where i would be doing the study but i soon became a bit discouraged when i realized that i didn’t have the resources or time to fulfill many of my ideas.
I needed a simpler approach to fit the timeline of this study and so i decided on the effects of pollution on leaves falling off the trees as the seasons change, because i also picked, in my opinion, one of the worst times to begin this study here in Manitoba, so i had to pick something that would accommodate the weird weather we see this time of year. However, i did not anticipate the early snowfall so i once again had to alter the design a little to reflect that the temperatures changed so rapidly that the leaves may have fallen prematurely, so i also included the buds seen on the trees.
Now that i have completed a field project i have a new appreciation for everything that ecologist do. They are constantly working under changing conditions and trying to make Earth a better place by seeing how factors best respond in the ecosystems and collect so much data so the result can be as reliable as possible. They totally do not get enough recognition for all the work and time put into making Earth a better home for all organisms that occupy it.
