Ongoing Field Observations

I have chosen to study the bird population that I see in my yard. During the snow storm at my home I saw the importance of the multiple bird feeders that my family has outside. I want to examine how the population of birds shift based on the food present outside. We have a sugar water bird feeder as well as a bird feeder with seeds and nuts.

I have decided to review the bird feeders in the front, back and side of our house.

My hypothesis is that there will be an increase in birds present when there is more food available. I also think this will create bigger birds and in turn may increase the bird population long term (bird weight/mass would be continous), considering we are getting whether uncommon for our area. I plan for my project to focus on the bird feeders in the back of my house which seem to be the post popular.

A potential response variable: will be the number of birds returning to my yard based on the amount of food present which is categorical.
