Data Collection

To collect data I sit at my dinner table as it is right beside the window that looks out to my bird feeders. I examine for 30 minute intervals in the morning and at night to see how many birds, by using point count to examine how many birds I count. Using two different time frames to examine is beneficial but I think it is possible it will be better to examine the bird feeders more times in the morning, instead of 30 minute intervals, its possible that three 15 minute intervals could be more beneficial.

Although birds are the largest organism that frequents my yard that you can see with the naked eye, over all the number of birds is less than I anticipated but it is consistent that I see birds of at least two types every time interval. I do see an ancillary pattern that each type of bird seems to prefer a certain bird feeder but it is not making me rethink my hypothesis.

Overall I am happy with my hypothesis and prediction. I am thinking that at the end of my experiment I will move bird feeders to my front yard for a period of time to prove that the bird population I review will decrease when the bird feeder is removed.
