The theoretical basis for my experiment is that sources of food from bird feeders within urban areas play a role in the abundance and species of birds in said urban areas. Other studies have examined what food sources attract which species of birds and in what abundance. Støstad et al., found that peanuts are a very commonly selected food by urban birds. It is important for us to understand the beneficial thing we can implant in urban areas to support not only birds but also other organisms to ensure they can adapt to urban areas.
Some key words for my research would be:
Urban zones: This is the area I am reviewing because the bird population I am studying is in my back yard and thus in an urban zone.
Bird Nourishment stations: This has to do with the food provided by me and other who feed birds with bird feeders in their back yard.
Population Gradient: This is influenced by the food sources available and is what I am reviewing.
