Post 9: Field Research Reflections

Overall, I really enjoyed my time spent designing my experiment and collecting my data at the creek. One of the most notable aspects of this field research has been encountering the diverse range of wildlife that call Fullerton Creek home. From observing schools of small fish and crawdads to encountering coyotes and mallards, each encounter has offered a deeper appreciation for the rich biodiversity of such an urban area. These encounters underscore the importance of preserving such ecosystems and the delicate balance of coexistence between humans and wildlife.

Despite the challenges faced, such as navigating variable weather conditions and adapting to wildlife encounters, each sampling day has provided new insights into Fullerton Creek’s fish population dynamics. As I continue to analyze the data collected, I am reminded of the intricate interactions within ecological systems and the importance of thorough research methods. This field research has not only expanded my knowledge but also highlighted the continuous need for conservation efforts to protect these natural environments.
