The ecological processes under investigation in this research are osmoregulation and ion transport mechanisms. All plants need water and the most common way through which plants and trees uptake water from the soil or their surrounding is through osmosis. in this case, the plants create a concentration gradient that helps them take in water into the system. However, in this case, the plants are unable to create a concentration gradient which can help them to take in water because of the level of salinity in the seawater. Thus, this research will be investigating how some plants are able to take in water in some weather because of the high salinity. this research will create a better understanding of why some plants survive in the saline environment while others wither off.

  1. What about factors generally that control plant community composition and why there is variation in plant communities across seemingly similar areas of climate and topography and of which salinity is one of them?
Remember you are not getting at why your pattern happens, you are only measuring the pattern but you can use the literature to discuss why the patterns might occur in your discussion.
