While collecting data for Module 3 I noticed that the west bark side had the most amount of moss. West bark side is also more covered and therefore I am suspecting that the more covered/hidden the area is the less it receives the sunlight, and the more moss growth is seen due to more moisture being trapped. Therefore, I am planning to modify my data collection technique slightly such that I will be adding one more layer and will be measuring the sunlight exposure on both west and east bark side and the moss cover. I will be doing this by dividing my quadrat into 25 small squares and each small square will represent 4% of the total area adding up to 100%. This refined method will enhance the accuracy of my data collection and strengthen the validity of my conclusions regarding the relationship between sunlight exposure and moss accumulation on green ash trees. Additionally, by comparing the moss levels on the green ash trees on their west bark side when exposed to different sunlight cover, I can better assess the impact of light intensity on moss colonization. I will be measuring the light intensity at three different times of the day morning, noon, and afternoon for better data.
When you say covered do you mean shaded and that the west is more shaded than the east? Remember to consider your writing clarity when explaining things.
west side is more shaded than the east is what I meant. I will make a note of writing clarity. Thanks for the feedback
