I’ve been collecting data on the abundance of dandelion plants on two sides of my yard. I had 15 replicates that I sampled using a 30x35cm quadrant. I may increase the size of my quadrant slightly when I collect again. The problem I’ve been experiencing is how to create random quadrant points. I’ve been using stratified random sampling because I need the two sides of the yard to be separate, and I randomly generated two numbers for steps in each direction to take, but the yard is not uniform and sometimes it goes too far and into the road, or I find it does not cover enough of the yard. Maybe I should increase the number of replicates I do.
