Topography: Tucked away on 52 hectares, Queen Elizabeth Park is an urban haven within the bustling cityscape of Vancouver, British Columbia. This large green area, which is located at 49°14′32′′N and 123°06′54′′W, provides a tranquil escape from the rush of city life.

Weather conditions: – Sunny, End of summer prelude to winter temperature is around 22*C

At 125 m above sea level, Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver gives a spectacular view showing mountains on the North Shore. It is horticulturally rich and attracts floral enthusiastic and view-loving spectators. It is located on the highest point in Vancouver.

The 52-hectare park is home to the drop-dead gorgeous Bloedel Conservatory. Java finch, Red-rump parakeet, Roul-roul partridge, Citron-crested cockatoo

The park has a gorgeous landscape quarry garden, the arboretum which has a collection of exotic and native trees. Red maple (Acer rubrum), Himalayan cedar (Cedrus deodara), Maidenhair tree (Ginkgo biloba), American tulip tree (Liriodendron_tulipifera)

Potential Subjects: There are a variety of animals and plants that exist in the park, but mainly insects and birds. Another subject could be changing seasons, How will it affect the plants and insects

 

Observation questions:

  1. As I enter, I see ducks. We can see various eating habits and co-relation of ducks.
  2. Secondly, I see the floral species that have different mechanisms of pollination adapted by various varieties of flowers
  3. As it was dusk,  many moths were seen and their population varied from place to place or in a different ecosystem, like near water, near bushes and flower-enriched regions, and on trees.
