There wasn’t quite a challenge when it came to making a graph; mine was particularly a scatter plot. I obtained a range of data, from which I decided to draw a trend line to observe the expected relationship. However, I noticed that my graph did not match the prediction I made, particularly for the east bark side. While the graph matched the prediction for the west side of the bark, it showed a positive relationship for the east bark side, contrary to my expectation of decreased moss with increased sun exposure. Despite this discrepancy, my graph does provide an idea for further research, where other factors could be measured to better understand the observed patterns. Further research might be needed in microclimate variables such as air movement on both sides of the tree bark, assessment of the texture and pH of the bark on both sides, assessing the density of the tree canopy above the green ash trees, moisture levels and factors such as shading from nearby houses to help understand how these physical and chemical properties affect moss colonization.
