Tables and Graphs

I started with a table to organize the data as the grid formation I had used for my sample transects transferred easily to a table format. A table allowed me to quickly sum the number of plant individuals for the four quarters I had split my transects into. Therefore my data was easy to organize, aggregate and summarize using a simple spreadsheet. The sample table for assignment 5 is just a first step as I presented simple high-level results for the totals per transect. For my report I intend to break this down further: to compare frequency of each of the two studied plant species per individual quarter of my transects. If I were to present my data in graph form I would have used a grouped bar chart.

So far the results appear to be as expected where the number of each of the two plant species is weighted towards having neighbours of the same species within each quarter of the transect. That being said, while transferring the data to the table I had the feeling that my sample size is insufficient as some of the transects had no plants of either type, while others had only one or two of each species. I feel it would be a stretch to make firm conclusions based on my current number of data.
