Field Research Reflections

I thoroughly enjoyed conducting my study. I had a great time completing the speciation and data collection. Even though it was a little busy—well, busier than I had anticipated, to be honest—I learned a ton while doing this research. I learned from this experience how diverse and important these first unsightly organisms are to our ecology. Gaining knowledge on how diverse habitats affect moth populations was made possible by gathering data and identifying species in a variety of park sites, such as the Duck Pond and Bloedel Conservatory. I now recognize the diversity and ecological significance of these frequently disregarded animals thanks to this practical experience. In general, the study enhanced my comprehension of biodiversity and the vital functions that moths do in preserving the well-being of ecosystems.
