I will be examining how different parts of my backyard varying levels of average sunlight throughout the day experience weed growth. As dandelions are an extremely common weed which I expect to see, I found an article discussing them specifically.
A) Source: de Kovel, C. G., & de Jong, G. (1999). Responses of sexual and apomictic genotypes of Taraxacum officinale to variation in light. Plant Biology, 1(05), 541-546.
B) This is an academic, peer-reviewed research paper.
C) The paper is academic because it appears to have been written by experts in the field, and includes citations and a bibliography. I was able to verify that all articles published by the journal are peer-reviewed by going onto the Plant Biology Journal website and looking under the Overview tab. While I’m not able to see the full article, I am able to see that the methods and materials were listed, in addition to a summary of the results in the abstract. This indicates that new research was being performed as opposed to a review.
Great!
