I have gathered 3 replicates of 10 samples each between July 3rd to 6th. The weather was mostly sunny with some cloud cover, with the temperature varying from 17 – 26 ℃.
The main issue I encountered was identifying the plants species besides the most abundant one, which was Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis). However, I was able to identify all of the secondary species that I recorded as present in my quadrat.
I have noticed that the number of plant species has not been strongly impacted by proximity to the nearest tree, although in order to conclusively determine the relation between distance from trees and plant variety I will have to calculate the correlation coefficient. I have also realized that overall there is low diversity in my study area, as the only species I have recorded besides Kentucky bluegrass are dandelions (Taraxacum), common plantain (Plantago major), prostrate knotweed (Polygonum aviculare), and annual bluegrass (Poa annua).
