Field Research Reflections

I found much literature and studies conducted in wild and semi-disturbed environments that helped to direct my thinking and postulate on the mechanisms that shaped my results. My gathered sample results were less than satisfactory; this was mostly due to my underestimate of necessary repetitions. I believe a different sampling method (stratified transects instead of random) would have been more appropriate for my goals, but unfortunately I had traveled far from my study area and could not access it anymore.

I have gained a new appreciation for simple ecological functions, such as the process of succession after disturbance, and am beginning to take notice of these fascinating phenomena in my surroundings.
