Post 8: Graphs from Data Collected at Finnerty Point

It appears that transects with shallow soils (Transect 1 and Transect 2 (Shallow)) have higher species richness (32 and 26 species) compared to those with deep soils (ranging from 4 to 23 species). This rejects my hypothesis that shallow soils have less biodiversity than deep soil sites. Findings suggest that species that succeed in these conditions are highly specialized and adapted to deal with the specific constraints of shallow soil, such as limited water and nutrient availability. Consequently, shallow soils harbour a unique assemblage of species with adaptations that enable them to survive and reproduce in these challenging conditions.
