My experimental public garden was about 1200 square meters in size. It is located in Lower Sackville, N.S., a somewhat quiet area, for it is not usually crowded and pets are forbidden, which created an almost controlled environment for my experiment. The sides are lined with trees that create some sort of natural boundary, while the presence of a playground suggests it may be some sort of community garden. This does not seem to be too heavily used and therefore remains quiet to work. Perhaps there is little recent planting, though this may give an air to the garden of being more natural or one of established growth that would have added different conditions to my experiment. Those pictures were taken on Aug 4th, 2024. The degree was 25°C mostly cloudy. I will be meagering the length of plants leaves recording to the area that plants are growing in, one area would be under the tries other will not. Some questions came to my mind:
1. How does the environment under trees (not very much directed to the sun) compare to the open areas ( directed to the sun more) diff in the length of plants’ leaves?
2. How might the weather conditions impact your observation and results?
3. Using a garden with an already patterned form of natural growth, with no planting done recently, how can the leaf-length variability from the different areas be impacted by this?
4. How does the fact that the garden has been free from human/pet traffic impact the growth patterns you are seeing in the plants—especially in regard to the two locations: under the trees versus in open spaces?
