I found that my sampling strategy worked quite well. I used a stratified systematic sampling technique. My three stratifications are high elevation (200-210 m), mid elevation (100-110 m), and low elevation (0-10 m). I decided to use a systematic method rather than a random method because I thought it was easier to implement this strategy and avoid any bias. I surveyed 10 replicates along each transect line. I started by surveying at high elevation, where I sometimes had an issue maneuvering around the more rocky terrain, but I made sure to wear proper footwear and move slowly. I decided to continue using this sampling strategy for both the mid and low elevations as the terrain in these areas is more manageable. Thankfully, I was able to survey all quadrants without having to modify my sampling system. I was surprised that one of the species I observed, the common snowberry, was present at each elevation.
Sounds like it went well!
