I am studying the ecological basis of density vegetation diversity and density that grows near different-sized Bur Oak Trees. When studying the diversity and density of species offers insight into the ecological interactions of plant communities that develop under the bur oak trees which are a staple species in southern Manitoba. There are multiple key ecological processes such as facilitation, resource partitioning and competition. The presence of bur oaks, can either increase or decrease the growth of different plant species depending on their physiology. My hypothesis would mainly touch on the ecological process of facilitation which can happen due to the microhabitats the oak tree creates which can either be a suppression or promotion of growth to surrounding species in the under and overstory.
