Theoretical Perspectives

I am studying how the densities of sandbar willow vary at different distances from the waterbody. Abundance of species in any specific area can depend on various factors, such as resource availability, predators, competition, and disturbances. In this study, I observe the abundance of sandbar willow along an environmental gradient as we move away from the pond.

As the distance from a waterbody increases, the availability of water to plants decreases, subsequently leading to a decline in soil moisture. The ecological process we may observe in this study is how resource availability, in this case water and soil moisture, relates to abundance of species.

Key Words: Resources availability, Environmental gradients, Abundance of Sandbar Willow, Soil moisture
