Post 7: Theoretical Perspectives

The theoretical basis of my research project is based on understanding the influences of elevation on plant biodiversity, specifically focusing on species richness and species density along an elevational gradient. My hypothesis is based off the mid-elevation peak theory, which presents the idea that mid-elevation areas may offer the most optimal conditions to support biodiversity. The mid-elevation peak is based off ecological processes that could affect biodiversity and density of plants, like resource availability, competition, temperature. Three key words that would summarize my research for a publication would be : elevational gradients, species richness and plant community dynamics.
