after conducting my field research I thought it has been very insightful and rewarding. Designing and implementing a field research on my own actually provided me with firsthand exposure to the challenges as well as the insights of an ecological research. I also had to make few adjustments in my research which helped me learn new ways to look at things. One of the major challenge in my research was weather as it gets extremely windy and cold in Winnipeg. This sometimes affected Chickadee’s activity which I couldn’t count as part of my observations. I also had to modify my approach in regards to observation, so I collected data in shorter time bursts instead of longer intervals.
This project gave me appreciation for the process of developing ecological theory and for the researchers, and all the work which has been one till date. Seeing the concepts I carried out in my research in action allowed me to have a deeper and better understanding for the whole concept. Engaging in hands-on experience enabled me to develop skills in observation, data collection, and even critical thinking, and ways to organize and present a data efficiently.
