Handbook of the Canadian Rockies as a Source of Ecological Information

I have had the Handbook of the Canadian Rockies by Ben Gadd for years and have used it countless times to identify flowers, animals or other living things while I was living in Banff and it even lists fish species that are common in Squamish. Ben Gadd has a degree in earth sciences and worked for Parks Canada as a naturalist before becoming a founding interpreter in the Canadians Rockies’ Interpretative Guides Association. So although he has won many awards and is well known as a naturalist, he would not be considered an expert by education, but through experience. This book does not have any in text citations nor a bibliography, despite listing further readings. So due to these reasons this would be considered non-academic material.

Gadd, B. (1995). Handbook of the Canadian Rockies: Geology, plants, animals, history and recreation from Waterton/Glacier to the Yukon  (2nd Edition). Corax Press, Canmore.
