Table and Graphs

The information that I collected during my field research, lichen abundance on trees was tricky to summarize because I had check to whether there is presence or absence of lichen on each tree on either side and I was unable to decide how should I present it, whether via a table or a graph and turns out table was easily interpretable. I also had to make sure to find similar sized tree on each stratum when number of paces randomly selected, to keep bias out of the experiment.

I can predict from the table I presented in Assignment 5 that 14 trees out of 20 showed presences of lichen in North side of the trails versus only 9 trees out of 20 showed lichen community which contributes only 45%. The outcome was expected being the North side with higher exposure to sun than the South side, but the data is not significant enough to make sunlight the only factor affecting lichen growth because I also noticed that the trees in area with a water creek passing through had higher abundance of lichen on trees making it a contributing factor for their growth.

  1. hello Nidhi
    good start!
be careful with word choice ‘- for example, when reporting results, use ‘report’ or ‘observe’,not predict.
the external factors over which you have questions can be discussed in Discussion as factors to look at in future studies
    thanks!
