Below is the graphical representation of point count observations made at Polson Park in Vernon, B.C.
There were a few challenges in organizing the data as originally, I had tried to fit too many different types of information onto one graph, so simplification was definitely a key here.
Somewhat embarrassingly, technical know-how was also a slight obstacle since, although I am somewhat familiar with excel, getting everything labelled and legible proved to be an issue.
It was suggested to remove linear representation and simply include data points so as not to misrepresent what was being observed, which was a helpful change made as well.
The general trend in data does support the original hypotheses that bird activity would increase with temperature, although I would say that this is not conclusive based on the size of the sample set and myriad possible influential factors. Further studies would have to be done with increased observations, more consistent observation times, and the full inclusion of data from other possible factors.
definitely requires more study ; )
