Observation 1

.

I have chosen to observe a forest trail in Cumberland, BC. In the picture taken in the early afternoon on Oct. 11, 2022, I captured perseverance creek surrounded by a highly forested area with a variety of tree species and shrubbery. The forest covers an approximate area of 253,000 acres. Topography of the forest is a mountainous hillside. The fall season tends to have lots of percipitation on Northern Vancouver Island. However, this specific day there was no rain, but was overcast. I will be exploring the forest ecosystem. Based on the obseravtions I have made I have come up with the following potential questions for my research project:

1.) How does the geomorphology influence both the species of plants and animals in the area?

2.) How does the climate influence the populations of plant and animal species in the area?

3.)How do the behaviours of animals in this area contrast with the behaviours of the same species in different parts of the province?

  1. Sounds like a good study site for sure. I won’t comment on your questions since you have already moved beyond this stage. Your description could be a bit more detailed and don’t forget your field journal entries.
