I made two tables (Table 1 and Table 2), which describe the presence or absence of the Vancouver island tree frog and the American bullfrog in a variety of locations. The study site (pond near Victoria, B.C) was separated into three sections; grass area, forest area, and shrub area. Each section contained 3 quadrants at a random pick. The first column of the table showcases the study quadrants. The second column indicates if the tree frog was present or absent. Presence was indicated with a (+) and absence was indicated with a (-). The third column indicates if the bullfrog was present or absent. Table 1 is for the data collected on November 12, 2022, and Table 2 is for the data collected on December 01, 2022. I did not have difficulty organizing or summarizing the data. The outcome is not exactly what I was expecting. I would expect that when a bullfrog was to be present that there would be fewer tree frogs, this is consistent with my hypothesis. However, I did not expect to see such an extreme decrease in the abundance of tree frogs with the presentation of the bullfrog. I was anticipating that the opposing quadrants where the bullfrog was present would contain more tree frogs compared to the quadrants near where the bullfrog is present. I anticipated this as I would think that tree frogs would stay in their habitat (the pond) but just move away from the predator. I would love to further explore how bullfrogs change the habitats of the tree frog and if bullfrogs move into habitats that are more developed.
