Over the course of my research, I collected my data using the stratified random sampling technique. I chose random sampling locations from subareas that have variations in physical features, in this case, my subareas varied in topography and the presence/absence of water. My response variable used is the abundance of species (percent coverage) at each sampling location. My predictor variable is the distance of the sampling site from the river’s edge. Since both my response and predictor variables are continuous these correlate to the regression framework. I found that this technique worked successfully since my prediction/hypothesis match my data collection results. Luckily, I didn’t have any troubles implementing this technique which is additional evidence I chose the right design for my data collection. The process of doing my research and sampling has altered the way I view how the ecological theory was developed because it has made me more aware of the complexity of ecological systems and how all the factors coincide.
